With the 2025 schedule now published, we can see that there’s an intriguing new roster addition with the 4 Hours at Thruxton. The high-speed British venue was recently made available for the sim racing platform and will make its Special Event Debut in May with a solo touring car (TCR) endurance race.

On a similar theme of fresh events, there’s the Portimao 1000km, taking place around Portugal’s Algarve International Circuit in some motorsport vehicles from yesteryear – the HPD ARX 01c  prototype and supporting GT1 (Aston Martin DBR9 and Chevrolet Corvette C6.R) and GT2 (Ford GT) categories.

For the venerated Nürburgring 24h event, initially, only four classes were announced. But after listening to user feedback, touring cars were added in, providing five groups: GT3, Porsche 911 Cup, GT4, TCR and BMW M2 CS Racing. This year, there is a chance of rain, as every car on the entry list now supports the rain tye.

Naturally, the year begins with the traditional season-opening Roar, followed closely by the Daytona 24. Staples such as the Daytona 500, Coke 600, Sebring 12, Spa 24, Bathurst 1000 and Brickyard 400 all return. The Indy 500 is also back in 2025, following a reinstatement in 2024.

For those events using the GTP car category, they will be joined for the first time by the LMH Ferrari 499P and, presumably, the latest Gen3 Supercars will be used for the Bathurst event.

It all ends in December, with the Chili Bowl (Super Sessions) dirt over Midget event and ‘THE’ Production Car Challenge - the likes of the Mazda MX-5, Toyota GR86, Renault Clio and BMW (F82) GT4 are expected for this one.

With 30 Special Events across the year, covering diverse motorsport interests, iRacing looks set to continue with its status as the sim racing leader for mass-participation races.
