Seven Assetto Corsa EVO Features That Are Still in Development

Assetto Corsa EVO was released into Early Access on the 16th of January missing several game modes and features. A full v1.0 release is slated for this autumn, with developer Kunos Simulazioni promising to unveil new content right up until release day.‍ Check out the main features that we can expect to see appear in Early Access builds and in the finished game below.

1. Photo Mode

A favourite from the original Assetto Corsa, AC EVO’s photo mode is sure to cast the game’s beautiful cars and tracks in the best possible light. Fans will have to wait a while, however, as it will likely be unlocked alongside the game’s v1.0 release.

2. Replays

AC EVO currently has replays but the mode lacks diverse camera angles and the ability to save replay files. More advanced replay features are slated to arrive in the game’s second major Early Access build, which is thought to be in March or April this year.

3. Community Mods

A contentious issue, due to the fuzzy legalities of many mods released for the original Assetto Corsa, Kunos has confirmed it will allow mods in AC EVO, albeit after the game’s full release.

There’s a caveat to this, however, as Kunos has suggested that it will retain some control over which mods are approved and published in AC EVO, encouraging modders to work with car manufacturers to procure official licences.

How this will work in practice is still unknown.

4. Online Multiplayer

Key to the popularity of Assetto Corsa, online multiplayer will be added to AC EVO in its third major Early Access release, which is likely to be in the northern hemisphere’s summer.

The finished multiplayer mode will see daily races powered by sim racing platform SimGrid, but will still be compatible with the likes of Low Fuel Motorsport and Grid Finder etc.

5. Open-World

AC EVO’s open-world mode grabbed most of the game’s headlines initially, with players able to drive freely around a 1,600 Km2 area of Germany’s Eifel region when finished.

Players can explore the public roads in and around the Nurburgring Nordschelife and access local car-based businesses - including filling stations. It’s expected this will be a huge draw for multiplayer meet-ups.

However, the game’s open-world features are set to drop in the game’s fourth Early Access build after multiplayer is introduced. Going by Kunos’ roadmap, this could be as early as this summer.

6. Career Mode

AC EVO’s in-game economy and career mode is partially present in its Early Access build already, with players able to earn currency from the Driving Academy and Special Events modes.

However, it’s expected that players will be able to earn currency from an expanded single-player career mode in future, using it to purchase cars, car parts and other items from businesses located in the open-world Eifel region.
The full suite of career mode features are expected with the game’s v1.0 release.

7. Tracks and Cars

More cars and tracks are expected throughout AC EVO’s Early Access period, with the final tally for its v1.0 release stated to be 100 cars and 15 tracks.

At least three new cars are expected imminently alongside the Circuit of the Americas, forming part of the game’s second Early Access build. Further content drops will appear sporadically ahead of autumn. At least five free new tracks will appear after v1.0, too.
