Teased as far back as 2021, iRacing’s wet weather system - codenamed ‘Tempest’ - added an impressively detailed and dynamic weather model to the sim, replete with believable wet racing lines, weather forecasting, aquaplaning and spotter interactions.
As expected with such a new system Tempest isn’t available across all of iRacing’s cars and tracks, with future seasonal Builds set to broaden its scope.
At the moment, popular cars like those found in the GT3 and IMSA GTP classes are rain-ready, with entry-level vehicles such as the Toyota GR86 and Ray FF1600 also available for iRacers to sample.
